Bio:  Dr Harshan Kumarasingham is Reader in Politics and History at the University of Edinburgh.  His work encompasses the political and constitutional history of Britain, the late British Empire and Commonwealth.   Among his recent publications are Viceregalism – The Crown as Head of State in Political Crises in the Postwar Commonwealth (ed.), Palgrave Macmillan, 2020 and The Cambridge Constitutional History of the United Kingdom (co-editor), CUP, 2023.  He is Co-Editor of the Transactions of the Royal Historical Society.

Current research projects on modern monarchy:

To examine the Elizabethan Constitution, 1952-2022.  Funded by the British Academy.

Forthcoming, current or recent research publications on modern monarchy:

Currently working on monograph for CUP on the Crown in Independent South Asia.
