Current research projects on modern monarchy:
Patrick is currently undertaking research at Monash University for his Master of Arts into the Great Seal of Australia, which is the seal used by the monarch and governor general on key official documents, such as the letters patent and commissions appointing judges and military officers. Patrick’s thesis, which is examining the Great Seal from historical, material culture and information management perspectives, will also place the seal in its wider imperial context by comparisons with similar seals used by other Commonwealth realms, including Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ceylon and Malta.
Patrick is completing this research under the supervision of Dr Kate Murphy (Monash University), Associate Professor Joanne Evans (Monash University) and Professor Emeritus Robert Aldrich (Sydney University).
